1. How will you prepare yourself as future digital teacher?

Being a teacher requires a lot of effort, perseverance and patience how much more if we make technology as our means of instruction to our students. As a future digital teacher, I should be more equipped and should master the use of digital technology as an instructional material because as a mentor I should be more knowledgeable than my students because it is my task to educate them and they should learn from me and vice versa. So as early as now, that I am still a student teacher, I should make use of digital technology in delivering my reports or lessons during my duties in my field study subjects. By that, my technology skills will be honed & at the same I will discover a lot of creative ways on how to be an effective digital teacher in the future.

2. How will you bridge the gap of the students in the future generation, the generation y & z?

Generation gap is prevalent in our society today. Many differences occur between younger & older generations, especially between children & parents. This is also present in the teaching profession. Most of the old-time teachers has a gap between their students especially that children nowadays are engaged in using digital technology. The fact that I will become a digital teacher soon, I should keep in touch to using digital technology as an instructional material. I should be always updated with what's new & trending so that in the future I can relate to my digital students and teach them effectively as a teacher equipped with digital technology skills.

3. Illustrate in a grid chart differentiating the past 30 year old generation & the new digital generation.

Past 30 y/o Generation
New Digital Generation

The illustrations above show the difference among the past 30-year old generation & the new digital generation. In terms of fashion, I observed that past generations wear conservative clothes like long sleeves and knee length dress while the present generation wears above the knee and sleeveless dresses. The manner of playing games has also changed. Back then, children play with their mates physically like piko & tumbang preso but now the new generation play through computers. They can play with themselves or play together with their friends. The ways of teaching has changed also. Traditional teachers are using books and other instructional materials in delivering the lesson to their students while the digital teachers use interactive projectors in presenting their lessons in which students can really have the visual perception of the lesson. The present generation uses internet to search or make their homeworks, projects and other school requirements while the past generation relies only on books in searching for their lessons or requirements in school. The means of communication has also changed one way to another. Back then, people are using telephones and snail mails in communicating with their loved ones from other places. When people send their mails, it takes a long time to reach its destination. While now, we have many different choices and ways to communicate with our loved ones like facebook, skype, email and etc. And this doesn't take minutes in sending to them. And also the television has really emerged from just a mere tv to a touch screen led tv in which the viewers can also use social networking sites and other features while using it. Amazing isn't it?

Comparing the past & present generations, I can really say that there is a big transformation of the things that exist in the previous decades. Almost all of the people are technologically bounded. They are accustomed in using technology as a part of their daily lives already. It is already part of their system. Now in the 20th century, we have seen enormous technological inventions, how much more in the 21st century. It would become a digital world.

4. Perception of the positive & negative effects of facebook.

Facebook is an online social networking service where users may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, exchange messages, post status updates and photos, and receive notifications when others update their profiles. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists. As the definition states, I can say that the creator of facebook has a good intention of producing it in public. By using facebook, we are able to do lots of stuffs like socializing with other people, get news from the different places of the world, be updated of the happenings in our surroundings and communicate with people whom we know. But is also has its side effects. Some people use it to hoax other people like pretending or make fraud of a real person. It also delays the life habits of the users because those people who are already addicted to it forgets to eat their breakfast, lunch or dinner. And also overusing of it can damage the eyes because of too much exposure in the computer or phone's radiation.

5. Create through graphic art illustration on 6 digital skills. Discuss each.

Solution Fluency

This is the ability to solve problems in real time. It is the capacity and creativity of what is the best strategy or solution to the problems at hand, depending on what is the preferred techniques in solving a problem.

Information Fluency

This talks about the higher end of Bloom's Digital Taxonomy - evaluating, analyzing, synthesizing, comparing/contrasting - to make sense of the information overload experience in a Google-driven media world. This involves the use of higher order thinking skills to come up with an information rich ideas.

Media Fluency

This is communicating learning not just in writing and in speech as we have been accustomed but also in multiple multimedia formats, the communication forms of the past & present.

Collaboration Fluency

This is the ability to work collaboratively in physical and virtual spaces with real and virtual partners. Again, not throwing out the traditional forms of communication but also embracing the digital forms.

Creativity Fluency

It is thinking creatively in both digital and non digital environments. It just not talks about technology but it is life long learning skills that everyone should acquire to develop solutions in seeing problems.

Digital Citizen

The digital citizen is guided by principles of leadership, global responsibility, environmental awareness, and personal accountability.

Educational Technology 2 Assignment

1. Do you consider yourself that you belong to technology or digital generation?

I do consider myself that I belong to technology or digital generation because everyday I surf the internet, use my phone, watch television and engage in many other activities that involves the use of technology. My day will not be complete if I haven’t used these gadgets because it became part of my daily routine. And because of that it is hard for me to cease this kind of addiction. I challenged myself not to use my phone and computer for 1 day but just for hours I find myself holding my phone again and turned on the computer. This really shows that I can’t really help myself to stop using what I have accustomed with. And also in doing school projects or requirements it always involves the use of technology. Like in this Educational Technology 2 subject we are required by our teacher to make an account in the website called blogspot so that whenever she will give us an assignment or project we will just send it to her by creating our own blog.

2. Do you support information technology evolution? How?

Yes, I support information technology evolution by incorporating to my students what I have learned about technology. As a 20th century teacher, I am obligated to teach my students the trends of our society today which includes the use of technology in the learning process. This will help the students to become more active, creative and more interested to participate in the lesson. It is more on hands-on activities in which the students themselves are the ones who participates.
